From First Call to Store Release
The path an iOS or Android app follows from an agreed idea to a live store listing. Steps tagged Store rule come from what Apple and Google document themselves; steps tagged Our stage are the four stages of the process above.
-
Agree the scope
Discovery is where requirements, audience and market are analysed. Which platforms, screens and user data the app touches is worth writing down here, because both stores later ask what data an app collects.
-
Design against the platform
Wireframes and prototypes come before code. Apple and Google each publish interface guidelines for their own system, and Apple's App Review Guidelines include a section on design, so they are worth reading while the prototype is still cheap to change.
-
Build, then test
Development runs in iterations with regular updates: build, test, repeat. Testers get a build before any store review, through TestFlight on iOS and through the test tracks in Google Play on Android.
-
Testing on each store
TestFlight allows up to 100 internal testers and up to 10,000 external testers, and a build stays available for up to 90 days. The first build added to a group goes to App Review.
A new personal Google Play developer account has to run a closed test with at least 12 testers opted in for 14 continuous days before it can apply for production access.
-
Privacy declarations
Apple requires App Privacy Details for every new app and every update, including data collected by third-party code inside the app. Google Play asks every publisher outside internal testing to complete a Data safety form. Both must match what the app really does.
-
Submit
Launch is where we handle App Store and Play Store submission. Each platform reviews its own version: an approval on one store says nothing about the other, and Apple takes one app version under review per platform at a time.
-
Review
Apple reports that on average nine in ten submissions are reviewed in less than 24 hours, and names crashes, broken links, placeholder content and incomplete information among the commonest problems. Google says review time varies and can take seven days or longer in exceptional cases.
-
Release
After approval the release date is yours to choose: managed publishing in Google Play holds approved changes until you publish them, and without it approved updates go live as soon as possible.
-
Keep it current
Every later version goes through the same review route. After launch, updates, bug fixes and feature enhancements keep the app competitive, and each package names its support period.
Technologies We Use
Cutting-edge tools and frameworks for modern mobile development
Phone Capabilities Checklist
Six things buyers ask about first. Each one opens to what the platforms themselves provide and require. A line marked On this page says what this page already states about our work; everything else is a fact about the technology, not a promise.
Push NotificationsReach a user whose app is closed
- The platforms provide
- Apple delivers pushes through the Apple Push Notification service, and Android apps commonly use Firebase Cloud Messaging, which is cross-platform and can also address iOS and web clients.
- What it requires
- The user has to allow notifications: iOS asks for permission, and recent Android versions do as well.
- On this page
- Push Notifications is listed in the Business App package, and the parent app shown further down this page installs from the browser and sends notifications.
Offline Use and SyncKeep working without a connection
- The platforms provide
- Both platforms let an app keep data on the device, and the databases in Firebase can hold a local copy that syncs when the connection returns. How much works offline is a design choice made screen by screen.
- What it requires
- A rule for conflicts: if two devices change the same record while offline, the app has to decide which change wins.
- On this page
- The Real-time Sync card above describes data kept in step across devices, and Firebase is among the technologies listed above.
Payments and Wallet SheetsTake a payment inside the app
- The platforms provide
- Apple Pay works in iOS, iPadOS and watchOS apps and in Safari on the web, and Google Pay offers a comparable payment sheet on Android.
- What it requires
- A payment service provider that supports the wallet, plus a merchant ID on the Apple side. Apple's App Review Guidelines also route digital goods sold inside an iOS app through in-app purchase, while physical goods and services may use other payment methods.
Biometric Sign-inUnlock with a face or a fingerprint
- The platforms provide
- iOS offers Face ID and Touch ID through its Local Authentication framework. Android offers a system BiometricPrompt with strong and weak biometric classes and a fallback to the device PIN, pattern or password.
- What it requires
- The user must have enrolled a biometric or a screen lock on the phone. The app only receives a yes or no from the system; the face or fingerprint itself never reaches it.
Deep LinksOpen one screen straight from a web link
- The platforms provide
- iOS calls them universal links and Android calls the verified kind App Links. Both open the right screen inside the installed app, and the link keeps working on the website when the app is missing.
- What it requires
- A website you control. iOS needs an associated-domains entry in the app and an
apple-app-site-associationfile served over HTTPS; Android needs a digital asset links file at/.well-known/assetlinks.json. Without that verification Android asks the user which app should open the link.
Analytics and Crash ReportsSee how the app is used and where it fails
- The platforms provide
- Firebase provides analytics and crash reporting for iOS and Android apps, so usage and crashes can be read in one console.
- What it requires
- Each analytics or crash-reporting SDK is data collection that has to be disclosed: Apple's privacy details cover third-party code in the app, and the Data safety form in Google Play asks the same.
- On this page
- Firebase is listed among the technologies we use.

Questions and answers
Do you publish the app to the stores?
Yes. We handle App Store and Play Store submission. Each store reviews its own version, and an approval on one says nothing about the other.
Can testers try the app before launch?
Yes. Testers get a build before any store review, through TestFlight on iOS and the test tracks in Google Play on Android.
How long is the app supported after launch?
Each package names its support period: 30 days for Starter App, 90 days for Business App and six months for Enterprise App.
Can the app work offline?
Both platforms let an app keep data on the device, and Firebase databases can hold a local copy that syncs when the connection returns. How much works offline is decided screen by screen.
